How To Manage Your Image Online In Today’s World Of Negative Branding And Ripping People Apart- Part OneĀ 

A lot has changed over the years. It used to be that people were being brought together. This even went for brands and the people behind the images. Today, it’s all about ripping people apart and getting off on making other people miserable. You see this so often in entertainment. You see this in everyday people just trying to make ends meet. You see this in people trying to make it online and be successful. It’s all related. People are their images. People are their own products, especially online.

When just one thing about the image gets called into question, the rest of the image does too. When just one person gets called on one aspect of their personality, the whole world conspires against you. What we need is a change. What we need is a re-branding. Let it all begin with the following guidelines.

1)Why not do a Google search for your name or brand. It is possible. It’s a good way to find out how people really do feel about you, even your so-called fans. It’s a good way to see which platforms people are using to find out information on you. This way you will know which channels are going to be the most proactive way to reach out to them. In this day and age, sometimes it’s hard to tell the truth behind the lies, even when it comes to your own brand. This is a good way to get to the truth.

2)Put all your content and context into one place. Do not do what others have done before you. Some have used multiple places. When this happens, some of the information ends up getting mismanaged. Some of the information ends up getting misinterpreted in one way or another. If you have it all in one place you can keep better track of things. You can also keep better track of the channels people are looking to you fro your brand. This also means you will have better control over what is being said about you, especially when it comes to people telling half-truths or lies about you.

3)This one is going to be a hard one for some of you. I’d actually include myself in this one. I personally do not like social media. I loathe it, as a matter-of-fact. However, there are some good aspects to it. Even if you spend just a few minutes online, please do yourself a favor and fill out the forms. Social media is a great way to engage with your fans and other people. Think of it as a business resource. Just fill out the profile. You only have to spend a few minutes online each day. It’s a good way to find out what people are saying and thinking. The more you know about how your fans feel, the better a product or image you can offer.

domain 4)You need to get your own domain. You never want to do the whole shared-space thing. It’s like having your own apartment, but there is a a squatter there. The space is never going to be truly yours. You will be getting nothing but constant complaints coming from the other person. Which is why you need your own space.

It’s going to cost you more money up front, but it’s going to be worth it. This way you have full control. Your brand is yours. It doesn’t belong to someone else. You won’t have to check in with the other person about every move you make. Get your own space!
